Presenter(s): Rashmi A Kusurkar, Subha Ramani Host Institution: VU University Medical Center Amsterdam, 2. Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School

Teachers perform a myriad of tasks in education like preparing course material, giving lectures, facilitating small groups, preparing assessment questions, evaluating performance in examinations, assessing the quality of their teaching, designing curricula and engaging in continuing professional development. In spite of this, pursuing a dedicated career track in health professions education has developed only recently, that too not in all parts of the world. In 2015, AMEE launched its Associate Fellowship and Fellowship initiative with the objective of providing teachers pursuing health professions education scholarship due recognition for their work within the Association and potentially at their own institutions for academic progression. In addition to discussing the principles of educational scholarship, we wish to raise awareness of the objectives, criteria and benefits of the AMEE Associate Fellowship and Fellowship.

The aim of this webinar is to guide health professions educators on moving through a career spectrum- from excellent teaching to scholarly teaching towards educational scholarship. Demonstration of Scholarship is a requirement for the Associate Fellowship and Fellowship programmes and for academic progression.

Who the webinar is aimed at:

Teachers in health professions education who would like to advance in their educational careers, and/or challenge themselves to become educational innovators using a scientific line of inquiry.
