Date and Time (UK): Apr 05, 2018 - 16:00
Presenter(s): David M Irby Patricia S. O'Sullivan Host Institution: UCSF

Background: In 2011, we published a model for studying faculty development that focuses on the elements of program, participants, facilitators and context situated in both the teaching commons and in the workplace.

Aim of webinar: To focus on conducting research in faculty development. We will provide a brief review of the literature in that area. Using our model, we will explore potential research questions from paradigmatic lenses of positivism, post-positivism, interpretivism, and critical theory. We will propose different studies as a source of potential inspiration.

Intended audience: Those who want to explore deeply how and why faculty development works.

Presentation Requirements:

A good internet connection.

The webinar is presented in Adobe Connect and there have been recent changes to the way the platform is now accessed. The Adobe Connect app should be downloaded and installed on your PC/Laptop’s desktop the first time you connect to a webinar. This is a one-off action. This is the method that Adobe Connect recommend as it eliminates the requirement for Adobe Flash to be installed on your device. Please note that the Firefox Browser is no longer supported for the platform and Google Chrome is recommended. Safari is also supported for Macs.

Please follow the instructions in the "Intructions for Accessing Webinars on Adobe Connect" below on accessing the Adobe Platform App for the first time.

If you are unable to install the app, you will require to have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player on the computer you will join the webinar from. This is essential to avoid technical difficulties. You should then copy and paste the webinar link into Internet Explorer. To check your version of Adobe Flash Player, click on the Adobe Flash Player Version Verifier link below in Support Links.
