Background: With the explosion of new medical schools around the world, the quality assurance process known as accreditation becomes more and more important. Equally important are processes to ensure that a country’s accreditation system meets international standards of excellence. In order to ensure that a country’s accreditation agency meets international standards, the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA) have established processes to ensure the quality of a country’s accreditation agency and confer “recognition” status.

Aim of webinar: This webinar will explain the basics of accreditation and experts from NCFMEA, WFME, and the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) will discuss the two recognition processes; one to ensure US. student access to subsidized loans and the other to maintain access to US residencies and fellowships after 2023.

Presentation Requirements:

The webinar is presented in Adobe Connect and there have been recent changes to the way the platform is now accessed. The Adobe Connect app should be downloaded and installed on your PC/Laptop’s desktop the first time you connect to a webinar. This is a one-off action. This is the method that Adobe Connect recommend as it eliminates the requirement for Adobe Flash to be installed on your device. Please note that the Firefox Browser is no longer supported for the platform and Google Chrome is recommended. Safari is also supported for Macs.

Please follow the instructions in the "Intructions for Accessing Webinars on Adobe Connect" below on accessing the Adobe Platform App for the first time.

If you are unable to install the app, you will require to have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player on the computer you will join the webinar from. This is essential to avoid technical difficulties. You should then copy and paste the webinar link into Internet Explorer. To check your version of Adobe Flash Player, click on the Adobe Flash Player Version Verifier link below in Support Links.

The World Clock available using the link below in Support Links may assist you with translating the webinar times into your time zone.

You can take as much of an active role in the webinar session as you wish. Although is not essential, it can enhance the webinar if you have a web camera and a microphone, this will allow you to speak and be seen during the webinar. Some laptops have this as standard equipment.
