Interprofessional theory, scholarship and collaboration The task of raising the importance of theoretical undepinnings in research, policy and HSC practitioners’ agendas is the remit of a new international network: In-2-Theory. Its specific remit is to develop social science theory, and explore its practical application, in interprofessional collaborative practice (IPC) and interprofessional education (IPE). It aims to build sustainable working relationships with international colleagues to strengthens theoretical underpinnings of IPC and IPE and bridge the gap between theory and practice.

The abstracts selected for presentation at the fifteenth Ottawa Conference have been published in a fully searchable, 200 page, PDF.
The Final Abstract Book provides a complete list of all items selected for presentation from workshops and posters, to oral presentations and symposiums and includes a complete listing of session times and presenters.
The book provides valuable insight into this biannual conference both for those attending this year and those considering this conference for 2014.

For the first time abstracts selected for the 2012 International Conference on Residency Education (ICRE) will be published in The Journal of Graduate Medical Education.
ICRE is the world’s only global conference focused exclusively on residency education. This year’s theme is “Milestones in Residency Education: Competencies, Controversies and Challenges”.
Those interested are invited to submit abstracts that they feel will contribute to the conference’s dynamic and interactive learning environment.
Changes in Health and Social Care (HSC) service organisation have led to increased team working between different professionals and the blurring and overlapping of traditional professional role boundaries. Public inquiries into deaths of children at the Bristol Royal Infirmary2, the death of Victoria Climbie3 and more recently Peter Connelly4 have demonstrated that HSC teams do not always collaborate optimally, leading to a lack of continuity, and serious errors, in care.
The Centre for Medical Education within the School of Medicine in the University of Dundee is one of the leading international centers in medical education.
Each year the Centre for Medical Education runs a series of short courses. The courses are designed to help medical and health professions’ teachers develop an understanding of and study skills in medical education.
The aim of, Education in the Clinical Workplace, is to equip clinicians with the knowledge and skills to be effective clinical educators.

AMEE 2012 will be held in the Centre de Congrès, Lyon, a modern and attractive conference centre with state-of-the-art facilities. Located a short way from the city centre and on a good transport network, the Centre de Congrès is near to hotels, restaurants and the beautiful Parc Tête d’Or. AMEE is pleased to be collaborating with SIFEM/CIDMEF who will be holding their own pre-conference workshops on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 August, and some simultaneous sessions as an incorporated joint meeting with the AMEE Conference.
