Published in 2011, Learner Centred Teaching: Putting the Research on Learning into Practice, was well received, described as, “essential reading for everyone in higher education” by Michael Harris, Chancellor and Professor of Public and Environmental Affairs, Education and Business, Indiana University and as, "A research-based defence of a pedagogical approach that offers an alternative to the teacher-centred lecture model of instruction,” in The Chronicle of Higher Education.
The 15th Ottawa Conference on Assessment of Competence in Medicine and the Healthcare Professions took place in Kuala Lumpur in March 2012. This was the first time one of these biennial conferences, initially started in 1985 in Ottawa, had taken place in Malaysia.
The successful candidate will provide a strategic-level understanding of national requirements for medical education, and preferably be in a position to influence national policy. You will also make a significant contribution to the leadership, management and delivery of the Faculty's MBBS programmes, and will contribute to the School's Clinical Education Programme. The focus on the leadership and development of teaching will be strengthened by your development of the School's research/scholarship strategy and contribution to the University's engagement strategy.

The highly successful AMEE Essential Skills in Medical Education (ESME) courses have been offered around the world by AMEE since 2005. These courses are designed around the need for doctors, scientists and others involved with teaching in the healthcare professions to have training in teaching.

Leading experts in the field of education and technology have announced a new initiative that aims to assist education policy makers as they attempt to integrate technology and education in the U.S. There is a consensus that the combination of technology and education has enormous potential, yet to date the education sector has been slow to adapt to new and rapidly advancing technologies when compared to other industries.
This year’s prestigious Gairdner Global Health Award is to be presented to Dr Brian Greenwood, Manson Professor of Clinical Tropical Medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Dr Greenwood was selected for the award after playing a significant role in several developments in malaria prevention and treatment, including the importance of insecticide-treated bed nets which can drastically reduce the number of children who die from malaria.
