AMSE, ORPHEUS and WFME publish Standards for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in Europe

AMSE, ORPHEUS and WFME are delighted to report the completion of the Standards for the PhD degree in biomedicine project, in which the three organisations worked to create a set of standards for the PhD degree in biomedicine and the health sciences, building on the pioneering work of ORPHEUS in this area.

EJD's (PWG ) offer an update on the Professional Qualifications Directive

The European Junior Doctors (EJD) permanent working group (PWG) was formally created in Bad-Nauheim, Germany, in May 1976 as a Permanent Working Group of European Junior Doctors (PWG). Since this time, the EJD (PWG) has become the European medical organisation with the most comprehensive national membership, representing over 300.000 Junior Doctors from all over Europe.

Public-Private Partnership launched to Boost Training for Health Professionals in Developing Countries

Peace Corps, the U.S. Presidents’ Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), and the Global Health Service Corps are launching an innovative public-private partnership to place nurses, physicians and other health professionals as adjunct faculty in medical or nursing schools overseas. The Global Health Service Partnership (GHSP) will address health professional shortages by investing in capacity and building support for existing medical and nursing education programs in less developed countries.

Joint initiative offers medical practitioners and students a guide to online professionalism

The Australian Medical Association Council of Doctors-in-Training, the New Zealand Medical Association Doctors-in-Training Council, the New Zealand Medical Students’ Association and the Australian Medical Students’ Association are committed to upholding the principles of medical professionalism. As part of this commitment the organisations have published a guide titled, A guide to online professionalism for medical practitioners and medical students, to help doctors and medical students engage in social media while maintaining professional standards.
