The 15th Ottawa Conference on Assessment of Competence in Medicine and the Healthcare Professions took place in Kuala Lumpur in March 2012. This was the first time one of these biennial conferences, initially started in 1985 in Ottawa, had taken place in Malaysia.

2012 Gairdner Global Health Award to be presented to Brian Greenwood

This year’s prestigious Gairdner Global Health Award is to be presented to Dr Brian Greenwood, Manson Professor of Clinical Tropical Medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Dr Greenwood was selected for the award after playing a significant role in several developments in malaria prevention and treatment, including the importance of insecticide-treated bed nets which can drastically reduce the number of children who die from malaria.
