Summary: PBL is used widely in the UK in undergraduate medical studies, but much less so in postgraduate education. This study describes the implementation of a wiki to allow asynchronous collaboration between junior doctors, after a lecture and face-to-face discussion session approximating the PBL model.
Description: Case-based techniques such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) are valued in medical education. PBL is widely used in UK undergraduate education but is rarely used in postgraduate settings for various reasons, including discontinuity of attendance at weekly sessions. This study describes the implementation of a wiki to allow asynchronous collaboration between junior doctors, after a lecture and face-to-face discussion session approximating the PBL model.
