Summary: The objective of this paper was to evaluate public health teaching in a multi-site medical school to conclude if the method of public health education is beneficial to students.
Description: Public health, a loosely defined term that includes the fields of population health, community health, preventive medicine, and epidemiology (Rowlands and Spasoff, 2009a), has had a history of conflict with the medical profession (Schneider, 2011), resulting in what was once a vigorous debate regarding if and when it should be included in medical education (Woodward, 1994). This paper explores the public health teaching and it value to students at The University of British Columbia (UBC) medical school.
