Summary: Leadership is part of the future of medical education. This paper shows how, as leadership evolves, the practice and development of leadership training is currently tackled in Canada.
Description: The Project -- the Future of Medical Education in Canada (FMEC) -- led by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC 2010), has an objective to identify priority issues for Canadian medical schools. Based on an environmental scan and a consensus approach, this study identified leadership as one of the 10 priority issues for leading change and favouring innovation in medical education and practice. It suggests leadership training should be better linked and taught with other competencies and should be developed throughout the curriculum.
