The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado is one of the nation’s premier academic pediatric programs. Its undergraduate and graduate education programs in Pediatrics are nationally recognized for excellence and innovation. The Department seeks qualified candidates for the position of Director of Education Research & Scholarship to play an integral role in the educational mission of the Department.

The Director of Education Research & Scholarship will direct the Center for Education, Research, and Scholarship (CERS) and serve as a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics with specific responsibility for leading the growth and productivity of the Department’s health professions education research. In addition to pursuing their own research program, the successful candidate will be expected to serve as a key resource for pediatric faculty, residents, and fellows with an interest in educational scholarship and to devote substantial time to their mentorship and training. The Director will collaborate with other education leaders in the Department to promote innovation and best practices in curriculum development and assessment of learning and to develop educational programs designed to equip faculty, residents, and students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective teachers and reflective life-long learners.

Additional duties of this position include grant writing, program evaluation, and faculty development. The candidate should have well-developed relationship-building skills, analytical and critical thinking skills, and strong written and oral communication skills. The appointee will have the opportunity to recruit (and train, as required) a research professional to support overall development and implementation of the education research program. If in alignment with the education and research priorities of the new Director, the opportunity to recruit an Instructional Design Specialist may also be available.
