The PhD in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences programme provides pedagogical and research experiences that teach advanced skills in research design, methods, statistics, grant writing, and writing for publication.
The program includes faculty from the fields of Public Health Sciences, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing, Social Work, Kinesiology, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Counselling, Occupational Therapy, and Speech and Language Pathology.
To ensure that students receive individualised attention and high quality mentorship, the programme ensures low student to faculty ratios throughout the program. And when relevant, the institute ensures that students have ready access to faculty in other colleges from fields such as Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Philosophy, Education, Computer Sciences, Engineering and Religious Studies. Importantly, students have access to the library system of the University of Texas, which includes a vast electronic book and journal collection, and state-of-the-art computing facilities. The program is housed in the recently completed $60 million, 138,000 sq. ft. Health Sciences and Nursing building on the main campus that houses state-of-the-art clinical and research laboratories, innovative teaching and clinical simulation spaces, and faculty and administrative offices.
