For this 40th anniversary of Medical Teacher we will look at changes and significant trends in medical education that have taken place over the last 10 years

2018 is the 40 year anniversary for the publication of Medical Teacher. In our 21st year anniversary volume we featured articles published in the first issue of Medical Teacher in 1979 and invited authors to comment on developments in the theme which had taken place since then.
We invite you to submit on behalf of your medical school or postgraduate training programme a proposal for an article that highlights up to three key changes which have taken place in the education programme in your institution over this period of time. These might relate to curriculum design, teaching and learning methods, assessment, student selection, student engagement, the role of teachers/trainers or education management issues.
Proposals for contributions, up to 500 words, should be sent to the editor, Professor Ronald M Harden (email on Medical Teacher page) by 30th September 2017. Submitters of accepted proposals will be invited to prepare a paper of between 3000 and 5000 words by 14th Jan 2018 to appear in a special issue of the journal in mid-2018.
