Dr Sabine Nabecker provides a brief summary of her time as a student and her current position as a fourth year resident at Bern University Hospital and describes an opportunity that the AMEE Fellowship provided her.
Dr. Sabine Nabecker was awarded the AFAMEE status in 2018. She is currently a fourth year anaesthesiology resident at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the Bern University Hospital in Bern, Switzerland. Since 2017 Sabine Nabecker is studying towards a PhD degree at the Graduate School of Health Sciences at the University of Bern with the study project title "Assessment in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training“ under the supervision of Prof. Robert Greif, MME, FERC; Prof. Soeren Huwendiek, MME, PhD and Prof. Lorenz Theiler, CAS.
Dr. Nabecker is a fully trained instructor for the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Basic, Immediate and Advanced Life Support courses as well as the European Trauma Course. She is also instructor trainer for the ERC-Generic Instructor Course. At the Bern University Hospital and the Bern Simulation- and CPR-Center (BeSiC) Sabine Nabecker is the medical coordinator for all Immediate Life support courses and a simulation instructor. Dr. Nabecker is pursuing an academic career in anesthesiology as well as medical education and simulation in acute care medicine, focusing on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management and trauma. Dr. Nabecker is a reviewer for the Medical Teacher. Being awarded the AFAMEE status opened up the opportunity to serve as a mentor for junior medical educators at the AMEE conference in Vienna in August 2019
