Dr. Fornari is the Associate Dean of Educational Skills Development, ZSOM and VP of Faculty Development at Northwell Health. Her faculty development role aligns the UME, GME and CPD continuum. She uses her professional time to mentor on educational research

As an Associate Dean of Educational Skills Development, Zucker SOM (ZSOM) and Vice President of Faculty Development for Northwell Health organization I truly identify professionally as a faculty developer and medical educator totally devoted to learners across the continuum of medical education: UGME, GME and CPD.

My love of mentoring of all health professionals is exemplified in a longitudinal mentoring program I designed for Northwell Health to impact the healthcare team, Mentoring and Professional in Training (MAP-IT). My daily work is fueled by taking a small idea to fruition with partnerships across the continuum to assure the skills needed to teach and most importantly help others learn are available to all faculty I engage with in my daily work. This has led to my role as Director of a graduate level master’s degree program at Hofstra University in Health Professions Pedagogy and Leadership.

My professional approach is focused on the paradigm of Appreciative Inquiry to assure positive energy is part of every professional encounter and all my projects occur through partnership building, leadership skills, and using strong interpersonal and communication skills. This approach has led to involvement in numerous Communities of Practice, such as AMEE. I anticipate involvement in askAMEE as a future resource, a continued role as a tutor for the ESME courses, contribute to the scholarly vison of Medical Teacher in my role on the Editorial Board and be a contributor to various future projects that drive AMEE’s vision and mission, especially with a focus on faculty development.
