On behalf of AMEE - An International Association for Medical Education and the European Junior Doctors Association (EJD) and , we are really happy to share with you the call for two AMEE Junior Doctors Awards.
The European Junior Doctors Association (EJD) is an European medical organisation, representing over 300.000 Junior Doctors all over Europe. The EJD’s objectives include safeguarding the interests of the Junior Doctors in Europe, improving relations between its member organizations and narrowing the gap between the Junior Doctors all over Europe. Recognizing the important role of Junior Doctors in the field of medical education, EJD and AMEE have developed a continuous collaboration over the last years, coordinating activities and initiatives together.
One of these initiatives are the AMEE Junior Doctors Awards, which aim to support the efforts of junior doctors in the field of medical education. There are 2 available awards:
AMEE - EJD Junior Doctor Award on Leadership on Patient Safety
AMEE - EJD Junior Doctor Award on Research on Medical Education
About the awards
The AMEE - EJD Junior Doctor Award on Leadership on Patient Safety is awarded to an organization of Junior Doctors/Junior Doctor’s individuals who have made significant contributions within the field of leading and advocating for better patient care and improving patient safety at a local, regional, national or international level.
The AMEE - EJD Junior Doctor Award on Research on Medical Education is awarded to an organization of Junior Doctors/Junior Doctor’s individuals who have made significant contributions within the field of research at any level of medical education, improving the scientific knowledge in this field through a junior perspective. The work considered can have been developed at a local, regional, national or international level.
Who can apply
The candidate must be a Junior Doctor individual or a Junior Doctor Organization. Although there is no restriction as to the age of the Junior Doctor individual candidate, they must be enrolled in a training program OR they must not have reached a definitive senior position in their country
The individual candidate’s involvement in medical education before graduation is not a major requirement of the prize but may be taken into account during the judging process.

Candidatures should be submitted by 21st of November 2021, 23:59 GMT. No further extensions will be granted.
Please note that the winner of each of the Awards will be announced by the end of the year.
All applications will be evaluated by the AMEE - EJD Junior Doctor Awards Committee.
The criteria used for both awards are:
What improvement to the medical profession has arisen as a result of changes instituted by the candidate
The breadth of impact of the candidature’s changes (broad intervention versus specific intervention in single-specialty)
The impact upon the target audience
The longevity and sustainability of the change made
The prize for each one of the awards is:
Free registration for the next AMEE conference for one individual - offered by AMEE
1,000 € (no facilities and administration fee) - offered by EJD
The winners will also be invited to present a short communication at the next AMEE conference.
