Description

Roger Kneebone, Imperial College London, in the context of patient-focused simulation, a contextualised view of simulation that combines simulated patients with models/simulators in order to get to the complexities of clinical encounters, explains the Ha-Ha Effect, a metaphor that illustrates the difference in perspective between experts and novices. He argues that the Expert's view is so different from the Novice's view, that there tends to be a problem in teaching and learning. He suggests that there is a need for the development of theory in this area that can be applied to work in simulation.
